Shakira recently celebrated her fourth Grammy win! Early in her career, someone had the audacity to tell her that her voice was “too disruptive” for the choir. Imagine telling one of the world’s most iconic voices that!

Despite the early criticism, Shakira persevered. Her father played a crucial role, encouraging her to embrace what made her voice unique: her vibrato. He understood that her uncommon sound set her apart.

Today, that very vibrato is a signature component of her sound. It’s helped her achieve four Grammy Awards and global icon status. Selling 80 million records globally is quite the achievement, too.

Even joking about being compared to a goat, she says, “I hope it was a cute goat!”. This showcases the power of positive thinking and self-acceptance.

Does what others say about you matter more than your own self-belief?
