In a shocking incident that has reverberated throughout Louisiana, a breakfast dispute escalated to deadly proportions. Tamyrihu Hubbard, a 24-year-old resident of Marrero, has been accused of shooting her boyfriend, 23-year-old Joshua Jones, amid an argument over food during a Sunday morning breakfast.

According to reports from the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, the situation turned critical when Hubbard allegedly consumed a significant portion of their breakfast, leaving very little for Jones. The couple, who were reportedly on a tight budget, began to quarrel about the meal, leading to a fatal outcome.

The domestic confrontation unfolded in their home located on the 100 block of E. Lakeview Drive in LaPlace. After the shooting, Hubbard placed a call to the police, stating that she had accidentally shot Jones in the chest during their altercation. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found Jones unresponsive, suffering from a gunshot wound, and he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

The police press release detailed that Hubbard asserted the incident was an accident. “Hubbard told deputies that she and Jones had been arguing over the food that was made for breakfast,” the statement read. However, Sheriff Mike Tregre has indicated that the investigation presents evidence that contradicts Hubbard’s version of events.

Hubbard has since been arrested and charged with second-degree murder. She was taken into custody without incident and has been booked into a local parish jail, with a bond set at $1 million. Online records confirm that she remained in custody as of this past Tuesday.

This tragic event underscores the potentially volatile nature of domestic disputes, even over seemingly trivial matters like meal portions. As authorities continue to investigate, it raises questions about the underlying issues that can lead to such extreme outcomes in personal relationships.
